RESERVATIONS OPEN AFTER January 15th, 2024

The library has received all basic tax forms. 

AARP Tax preparers will be here at 35 West Main street on alternating Saturdays starting on Saturday, February 10th. Reservations are required. Please call (508) 624-6900 ext 2 to reserve your spot. Library staff will request the person's name, phone number and email address as part of the reservation process. 

Library staff do not offer tax advice or filing assistance. Please consult a trained tax preparer.

What you should bring to your appointment:  

  • Completed Information Packet from the AARP.  You can get this packet at the Welcome Desk or the Information Desk at the library.
  • Bring your 2022 Federal and State Tax Returns. 
  • Photo ID is required for the taxpayer (and spouse) filing the tax form
  • A Social Security Card or SSA1099 is required for each person listed on the return.
  • Any form with income tax information, including SSA-1099 – Social Security Benefits paid; All Form 1099-Rs for payments from a pension, annuity, or IRA;  All 1099- INT or DIV Forms showing interest and dividends; Form 1099-B from investment firms showing income and any stock sales;  W-2 forms from each employer; W-2G for any gambling winnings; Unemployment Payment statements;  1099-K, 1099-NEC, or 1099-MISC showing any miscellaneous income,
  • Property tax receipts and water & sewer bills or rent payments if you are over 65 and want to claim the Senior Circuit Breaker Refund
  • Records for all deductions if over $13,850 Single/$27,700 married – medical insurance, doctors and drugs, real estate taxes, mortgage interest, auto excise tax, and charitable contributions to itemizing deductions.  Most people no longer itemized deductions.
  • Records of any federal and/or state and/or local income tax paid (including quarterly estimated tax payments) if not shown on income documents.
  • Proof of health insurance: Social Security statement (for Medicare), MASSHEALTH Card, or MA 1099-HC from your insurance company and Form 1095-A, B, C if you bought insurance thru the Connector.  1095-A if you purchased health insurance from the MASS Connector
  • Dependent care provider information — name, address, telephone number and employer ID or Social Security number and amount paid to provider.  1098-T form for education expenses plus statement of account from the educational institution showing tuition and fees actually paid and scholarships, grants, etc. received. Bring a summary of any other education expenses. 1098-E form for student loan interest.
