Stream Team Reports

Marlborough Monitoring Program

A band of wonderfully dedicated volunteers monitored all the streams throughout the city to determine their health. The project began in 2007 and finished in 2010.  Now that we have a baseline, we will monitor the streams as needed to ensure they stay healthy.

After each stream was monitored, a report was written and a list of action items on corrective measures needed to help protect the stream's health was developed. Once the report was completed, different city departments were notified of problems that need to be addressed and worked to resolve them.

We are happy to report that so far, our streams appear healthy and support wildlife. As of the spring of 2010, we have inspected all the streams within the city. If you are interested in our results, please click on the reports below for each stream section report.

In the future we will plan to do this again every 10-15 years to be sure our streams continue to thrive.   If you want to help us in our effort to survey the remaining stream systems, please contact Priscilla Ryder, Conservation Officer, for more information.

Many thanks to volunteer Jennifer Boudrie, who served as Co-Leader and coordinated and helped to get this project organized and off the ground. Jen's leadership, amazing organizing skills, and commitment to the environment have been invaluable to this stream team effort.
