The Marlborough Community Development Authority (MCDA) administers four primary affordable housing programs:

  • Senior Public Housing: 227 units within 3 public housing communities, of which 31 units are reserved for non-elderly disabled per the regulations set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Urban Development (DHCD).
  • HUD Section 8 Portable Vouchers: The MCDA administers 128 U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Section 8 portable vouchers.
  • Massachusetts Vouchers: The MCDA administers AHVP and DMH vouchers as they are made available.
  • Special Needs Housing: The Housing Division owns a property for disabled individuals with 11 units that is managed by the Advocates. This is part of the MA Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) 689 special needs housing program.
  • Neighborhood Stabilization Program: The MCDA purchased and rehabbed two properties on Mechanic Street in Marlborough. They are both deed-restricted affordable rental units. Both units are currently occupied.
  • Local Initiative Program: Local Initiative Program (LIP) is a state program that encourages the creation of affordable housing by providing technical assistance to communities and developers who are working together to create affordable rental opportunities
