The Marlborough Public Library Building Committee held its first meeting in March 2016 to work on the requirements of the construction grant application to the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC).  In July 2018 Marlborough was offered a $10,186,626 construction grant. On January 7, 2019 the City Council approved the Mayor's request to bond $23,780,902 to fund the project. The bonded amount will be reduced by the amount of the MBLC grant. The Marlborough Public Library Foundation is working on a capital campaign to raise $2,000,000 in support of the project.

Updated Library Floor Plans
July 2020

In February 2020 the library held four public meetings to listen to feedback on the initial library design.  During these meetings we heard several comments that the after-hours/meeting room entrance to the library should be the main entrance since it was nearer the parking lot and provided easier access for many patrons.

The Project Team took the next several weeks to redesign the interior spaces. These updated library interior floor plans show that the meeting room is now on the lower level and Circulation is located at the Main Entrance, near the parking lot.

These plans have been approved by the Library Building Committee and served as the basis for the creation of detailed construction documents.
