Building the Dream

For over 100 years the Marlborough Public Library has been a destination for the citizens of Marlborough, serving as a center of knowledge for all ages and a hub of community activity. The recent renovation and expansion project ensured this community treasure will continue to meet the needs of residents for years to come. This major building project took several years to complete, but created a 21st century library that retains the beautiful historic elements of the existing Carnegie building.

The new facility opened in October, 2023 and addresses many of the needs and issues identified in a survey completed by over 1,000 residents. If you'd like to compare the "before and after" stats regarding the building, you can take a look at the MPL Construction Fact Sheet.

Even better, come by for a visit! With significant more space, there are many interesting and innovative events planned. So check out the Events Calendar - there is truly something for everyone.

The Marlborough Public Library Foundation supported the library renovation with a capital campaign to raise $2,000,000 from residents, businesses, and organizations. The success of this campaign demonstrated the deep commitment so many in our community have for MPL. We are tremendously grateful for this support.

Please consider donating to the MPL Foundation so we can continue to support the library's mission  > Ways to Give.
