MCOA Transportation


Transportation is provided to residents of Marlborough age 60 and over who are registered for the Transportation program. The MCOA mini bus is handicapped accessible. The MCOA provides transportation in  locations Marlborough, Hudson and Northborough daily. Designated trips to grocery stores are offered as well as trips to personal appointments (not medcial appointments)  and trips to the Senior Center. Please check the "Marlborough Seniors on the Go!" newsletter for a monthly listing of scheduled destinations.

The MCOA Transportation program is partially funded by the Executive Office of Elder Affairs.

How does this service work?

We request at least 2 business days' notice and not more than 2 weeks in advance, by calling (508) 485-6492 ext. 32100 and leaving your name, phone number, day and date when you want travel, drop off time and return time, as well as the street name and number of the location of your destination. 


F.I.S.H. (Friends in Service Helping)

F.I.S.H. is a free, all volunteer service that provides no-cost transportation to medical appointments for Marlborough residents whose family or friends cannot assist.  This is a program of the Marlborough Council on Aging/Senior Center

How does the service work?

At least a week before your appointment call (508) 485-6492 ext. 32199, and leave your name, phone number, date, time and location of medical appointment(s).

Within two days you will receive a call back from the F.I.S.H. coordinator, who will then try to identify a driver for you. That driver will contact you for final arrangements. On the agreed date the F.I.S.H. driver will drive you to your appointment and then back home. Rides are provided locally, within MetroWest and Worcester. This is a completely volunteer service and there is no charge except for tolls or for any parking charges that may occur. If we are unable to schedule a driver we will suggest alternatives.

Who can use this service?

Those over the age of 65 residing in the 55+ communities of Villages at Marlborough East and Villages at Crane Meadow. Those over the age of 65 who reside in Marlborough Public Housing, Academy Knoll Apartments, Christopher Heights Assisted Living and Marlborough Hills Health Care Center. Also, members over (65) that are "Friends of the Marlborough Seniors" and veterans referred by the Marlborough Veterans agent.

Clients must be ambulatory and able to walk unassisted to/from the vehicle, place of residence and medical/treatment facility.

Dial-A-Ride/Kiessling Transit is a sub-contract provider for the MetroWest Regional Transit Authority also referred to as MWRTA.  Your transit account must be funded directly through MWRTA in order to participate in this service.

Personal Care Attendant: Should an individual require a "personal care attendant", that assistant can ride free when accompanying said individual provided the ride reservation for the personal care attendant is made at the same time as the primary ride booking. A personal care attendant for whom a ride reservation is not made in advance will be charged regular fare.

*Please Note: Non-ADA trips may be subject to vehicle availability during peak service hours. Framingham and Natick Saturday and Sunday service and weekday late night service is available through the MBTA RIDE.
