All dogs over the age of six (6) months are required to be licensed annually as required by both Massachusetts General Law (Chapter 140) and the City of Marlborough City Code (Chapter 250). The license year for renewals begins in January; however if you recently moved to Marlborough, you are required to license a dog over six (6) months.

The City Clerk’s Office has a dog application which allows us to automatically bill anyone who has licensed their dog(s) for the previous year.

If you are licensing your dog for the first time in Marlborough, you may do this by either mail or in person. You may visit the office located on the first floor of City Hall, 140 Main Street from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. If you wish to license your new dog by mail, please send the form to: City of Marlborough, City Clerk, 140 Main Street, Marlborough, MA 01752. Along with a completed New Dog License Form, a current rabies certificate, proof the dog has been spayed/neutered, and a check made payable to the City of Marlborough, must be presented at the time of licensing either in person or by mail. You must submit a form for every dog in your household. All checks received without the proper paperwork will be returned.

For any questions, please contact the City Clerk’s Office at (508) 460-3775.
