Mission Statement
The Marlborough Police Department is a fully accredited agency committed to providing the citizens of our community with the highest level of quality police services. The dedicated men and women of this department strive to provide a safe, orderly place to live and work, where everyone can enjoy what Marlborough has to offer. In recognizing our responsibility to the community, we promote professional, ethical policing, and demand the highest levels of integrity from all of our employees. By becoming partners with the community, we strive to meet the needs of all citizens, and to protect the rights of every individual. The Police Department is committed to ensuring public safety through a combination of education and law enforcement efforts in partnership with the community.
- What is considered domestic abuse?

"Abuse" is defined as:
The occurrence of one or more of the following acts between family or household members:
- Attempting to cause or causing physical harm;
- Placing another in fear of imminent serious physical harm;
- Cause another to engage involuntarily in sexual relations.
- Who can I get a restraining order against?

"Family or household members," defined as people who are or were:
- Married; or
- Living together in the same household, including same-sex relationships; or
- Related by blood or are/were related by marriage; or
- Parents of a common child, regardless of whether they have ever been married or lived together; or
- Involved in a substantive dating relationship. The law does cover those parties who are or have been involved in a "substantive dating relationship", including same-sex relationships.
- Can I get a restraining order for my minor children?

Yes. If your children are abused as defined, you can obtain a restraining order on their behalf or have them listed on your restraining order for their protection as well as yours.
