Main Street Fire - Victim Assistance
The Mayor’s Office has received a number of inquiries on how to help those displaced by Saturday’s structure fire on Main Street. According to Marlborough’s Director of Human Services, Rosalind Baker, donations of gift cards which can be used to replace clothes, personal and household items are sincerely appreciated. Many of the displaced residents are currently in temporary housing, so storage space is limited. Donations of gift cards may be dropped off at the Human Services Office located at 255 Main Street, Room 108.~ Ms. Baker can be reached at (508) 460-3758 if you wish to coordinate a donation.
In addition, Furnishing Options in Marlborough will accept donations of sofas, tables, chairs, kitchen items such as pots and pans and other items such as lamps. They will accept anything that can make a house into a home. For health reasons, Furnishing Options cannot accept mattresses or sofa beds; goods must come from single family homes and be clean and in fine working condition. People looking to donate to Furnishing Options can contact the organization at (774) 348-4922.
Monetary donations should be made out to The Mayor’s Charity Relief Fund and sent to the attention of the Mayor’s Office at 140 Main St., 4th Floor, Marlborough, MA 01752. Please mark in the memo section, Fire Victims.
We want to thank the community for the outpouring of support. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
