Pursuant to c. 149 of the General Laws, the City of Marlborough, the Awarding Authority, invites sealed bids from general contractors for Fire Alarm System upgrade for a 300,000 square foot school building for the Marlborough High School located at 431 Bolton Street in Marlborough, MA, in accordance with the documents prepared by Shepherd Engineering, Inc.
The Project consists of fire alarm system upgrade throughout the entire school building, removal of existing fire alarm equipment after the new system has been energized and grounding the system. A summer construction period for this project (6/18/08 to 8/15/08) is expected.
The work is estimated to cost $750,000.00.
General bidders must be certified by DCAM in the following category of work: Alarm Systems/ Electrical.
Bids are subject to M.G.L. c. 149 §44A-J and to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.149 §§26-27H inclusive.
General Bids will be received until 1:00 P.M., May 08, 2008 and publicly opened, forthwith at Public Facilities Department, 85 Sawin Street, Marlborough, MA 01752.
General Bids shall be accompanied by a bid deposit of not less than five (5%) percent of the value of the proposed work in accordance with M.G.L. c. 149, §44B, and made payable to the City of Marlborough, the Awarding Authority.

Bidders requesting Contract Documents to be mailed to them shall include a separate check, paid in advance, for a non-refundable fee of $25.00 per set, payable to the City of Marlborough, the Awarding Authority, to cover mail handling costs or provide the contractor’s FedEx number.
A pre-bid conference is scheduled for Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the High School located at 431 Bolton Street, Marlborough, MA.
Pursuant to the City of Marlborough’s Minority and Women Business Enterprise Program (MBE/WBE), all qualified Bidders will receive consideration without regard to race, color, creed, religion, disability, sex or national origin.
The City of Marlborough reserves the right to award or not award the project in whole or in part, or to accept the proposal that the City determines to be in the best interest of the City.
