I want to go door to door at residences selling items in the City.   Do I need a permit to do this?

Yes.   Each solicitor must complete an application, show positive I.D., provide two (2) photographs of themselves and also provide a letter form any jurisdiction where you have lived or solicited within the past five (5) years stating that you do not have criminal record or have been charged with violations of that jurisdictions soliciting laws.

What are the hours that I can solicit residences?

Monday through Saturday, noon until 7:00 p.m.  No solicitations Sundays or Holidays.

Do I need a soliciting permit if I only go to businesses?
No.

I supervise a group of people selling items.  Do they all have to register or can I register for all of them?

Each individual will need to go through the application process.

Is there a fee involved to get a solicitors permit?

There is a $10.00 fee with the check made payable to the City of Marlborough.

Do I need to display my permit when I go door to door?

Yes.  You will receive a picture  solicitor identification.

What can happen if I do not register with the Police Department?

Violations of this City Ordinance is an arrestable offense.
