COMMUNICATION WITH PUBLIC SCHOOLS
The Department of Public Works continues to work with the Public School system to limit school delays and closings while maintaining the safety of the students. In the event that the hours of school operation must be changed, the school department will attempt to notify school families prior to 6:00 am. The school department uses the following radio and television stations to provide notification:
If a delay is necessary, the school district will announce the delay over the stations listed above. If a delay is necessry, morning kindergarten and pre-school classes will be cancelled. Afternoon kindergarten and pre-school classes will begin at normal time. For all other students, starting time for school will be adjusted according to the length of time of delay, but not to exceed two (2) hours. The morning bus pick-up for the high school begins at 6:30 am. Therefore, a decision to delay school must be made by 5:00am and be based on the predicted conditions of the roads prior to 6:30am.
Note: Inclement weather may warrant a delay be changed to a cancellation.
