ALL CHILDREN USING THE PLAYGROUNDS SHOULD BE SUPERVISED BY A PARENT OR OTHER ADULT AT ALL TIMES.
The city’s playground equipment is designed for use by children age 6 and over. TOT areas are designed for use by younger children ages 3 to 5.
To help reduce the risks of injury while using playground equipment, please keep these SAFETY RULES in mind when you supervise your child’s playground activities.
w Do not use playground equipment that is wet.
w Do not walk in front of equipment in use.
w Do not run near any equipment.
w Do not climb on support legs or up swing chains.
w Do not go onto the playground in bare feet.
w Do not cut in line or push or shove in line.
w Always use handrails provided.
w Always wait your turn to use the equipment.
w NEVER throw anything while in the playground. (Use balls AWAY from the playground)
w Only one child at a time on each swing.
w Do not kneel or stand on swing seat.
w Do not twist or twirl the chains.
w Do not Jump off a moving swing, wait until it stops.
w The wheelchair swing is for wheelchair use only.
w Use the handrails on the ladder and slide.
w Go down the slide in a SEATED position only.
w Never go down the slide headfirst or lie down on the slide.
w Exit the slide when you reach the bottom.
w Always sit, never stand.
w Always use the hand holds.
w Do not bump or bounce seat on the ground.
w Always use foot and holds.
w Rock only in back to front motion.
w Do not try to rock side to side.
w Keep fingers away from under equipment.
BRIDGES, CLIMBERS & LADDERS:
w Do not run on bridges.
w Do not climb up close to the person in front of you.
w Climb only as high as your ability to get back down.
