Curious Minds, a science enrichment program presented by Sule Educational Services introduces young kids ages 4 to 7 (grades preK-2) to the thrill of science and discovery. Young kids are naturally curious about the world around them.
They frequently ask questions like: What is air? Why is the sky blue? Where do different colors of the rainbow come from? How does the moon change its shape? Why do we see shadows?
The Curious Minds program hopes to answer these and other common questions and covers topics from Physical, Chemical, Life Sciences as well as Earth and Space Science. Students learn about solids, liquids and gases in different States of Matter, phases of the moon and the solar system, rainbows, color of the sky, magnetism, floating and sinking etc. The goal is to introduce kids to the science behind the various phenomena they encounter, in a hands-on manner their young minds can comprehend. This stimulates them to observe, record and understand the phenomena they encounter and inspires them in their study of science and technology as they grow.
The Curious Minds program is organized in two levels
1.Preschool (ages 4-5) and
2. Kindergarten - Second Grade (ages 5-7).
The program is divided into modules. Each module is covered over a period of four weeks. The class meets once a week for a highly interactive 45 minute session. Each session addresses a specific scientific principle with a demonstration and interactively engages the students in understanding the phenomenon they have observed. Only common household materials are used and are completely safe. A scientist teaches the class and the program adheres to Massachusetts Science Curriculum Framework and also meets or exceeds the National Science Education Standards.
1. Young kids get exposed to science and the process of observing, recording, predicting, and experimental learning, early on in their developmental process. Their natural curiosity about the world around them is further simulated through hands-on learning. In addition, they also get exposed to new words and develop their vocabulary.
2. A life long process of inquiry is inculcated in the children.
3. Children develop the confidence to learn more difficult concepts in science as they progress through the higher grades.
