Application Deadline Extended to JUNE 1, 2017!!
The Adopt-A-Space program engages community support to assist in the beautification of landscaped areas, traffic islands and other green spaces owned by the City of Marlborough.
Participating in the program requires a designated donation, as well as a commitment to care for the space from May through the end of October.
The program was initiated in 1999 by Mayor Vigeant in his role as City Councilor. The program has met success due to numerous participants. As the years have passed, the Adopt-A Space team has discovered ways to improve the program and make participation easier. This year, rather than planting full gardens, new participants will adopt planters and leave the initial gardening up to the City. All planters throughout the City will contain uniformed plantings. First time participants will be able to commit to an adoption by ordering and making a donation of $250 for each planter.
Adoption includes the cost of a commercial 28” wide x 28” high planter, as well as the plants. Those that choose to continue their adoption for subsequent years will be able to do so for a reduced annual fee to cover the plants, soil and fertilizer; as the planters are meant to last many years. Planters already full with beautiful and hardy flowers will be placed mid-May at a location selected by each adopter, and will be adorned with a sign noting the committed adopter’s name(s) or company(ies). A list of available spaces is provided at http://doodle.com/poll/akskk9r9nba9ihb3
Checks for the planters may be made out to the City of Marlborough & mailed by May 1, 2017 to:
