The Marlborough Department of Public Works is seeking to fill the position of full-time (35 hours) Senior Clerk.  The position reports to the Assistant Commissioner of Operations and may receive day to day direction from the DPW Head Administrative Clerk.  


Responsibilities:
Some of the functions of this position include:   Perform essential and complex clerical duties as the primary contact with the City of Marlborough’s employees and customers.  Professional/timely response to daily communications with the public and employees by phone, in person or email.   Will be the primary DPW employee to greet customers.   Will assist customers directly or refer them to resources inside or outside of the department as needed.    Will direct city resources to solve customer issues.


Essential Functions include:
               Ability to independently respond to questions and requests from the public.
               Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly data reports.
               Process account changes for names, addresses, new accounts, and billing addresses.
               Coordinate, assemble and disseminate general contract agreements for the DPW.
               Respond to staff requirements regarding supplemental information for projects.
               Department computer database management.
               Maintenance of files.
               Office supply management, order placement, and vendor interface with service providers.
               Ability to troubleshoot complex customer issues in person and over the phone.
               Process accounts payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll
               Position will cross training with other DPW departments.


Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Minimum high school diploma. Associates Degree w/business background preferred. 5+ years’ experience in office/clerical/accounts payable settings with regular interaction with the public.

Special Requirements:
Must have demonstrated exceptional Customer Service skills.  Excellent Microsoft Office skills required.  Munis knowledge helpful.

Professional Customer Service oriented manner, strong communication skills, effective language and writing skills essential.


Step Salary:    $39,228.41 – $44,126.21
