Department of Public Works – Water & Sewer Division
The City of Marlborough, Department of Public Works is seeking to fill a vacancy for the position of General Foreman in the Water and Sewer Division.
Responsibilities: Supervises operation, construction & maintenance of water distribution & wastewater collection systems, subject only to general direction of Commissioner and/or Asst. Commissioner who are responsible only for broad outlines of goals, supervises daily operation, construction and maintenance activities of water distribution & wastewater collection systems, and all related peripheral equipment. Lays out work; assigns equipment and crews; supervises work in progress and upon completion; administers and manages all aspects of the city’s water distribution and wastewater collection systems; prepares or causes to be prepared reports required by state and/or federal agencies, including drinking water compliance submittals; schedules and directs the sampling of drinking water
parameters for regulatory compliance.; insures city compliance with all applicable clean water laws and regulations; supervises all subordinate personnel either directly or through lower level supervisors. Coordinates and oversees the entire Water & Sewer Division operations. Oversees recognized safety procedures for all DPW operations.
Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of wastewater and water systems; working knowledge of all applicable state and/or federal laws; ability to interact with subordinates to assure inter-departmental cooperation and to achieve overall goals and objectives; knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel supervision.
The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. At least five full years’ experience in water and/or wastewater systems, or educational substitutions as allowed by the Board of Certification of Water and Wastewater systems. Certification as an operator of drinking water distribution systems, Grade II D full required with ability to obtain Grade D III full within 6 months. Must have and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license
Salary: $82,138.69 – $92,392.58
Location: Municipal Garage, 135 Neil St., Marlborough, MA and city-wide assignments
