Marlborough Stream Team Monitoring Program

The City's Conservation Commission, Green Marlborough and a band of wonderfully dedicated volunteers have been monitoring the streams throughout the city to determine their health. The project began in 2007 and will continue until all streams have been monitored. Once we've assessed their health we will monitor the streams as needed to ensure they stay healthy.
After each stream is monitored, a report is written and a list of action items on corrective measures needed to help protect the stream’s health is developed. Different city departments are notified of problems that need to be addressed and work to resolve them.
We are happy to report that so far up to the Fall 2008 reports, our streams appear healthy and can support wildlife. We have inspected 5 streams so far.
