Mosquito Control Project
Mowry Brook
from Stevens Street through the Kings Grant Road Area
The Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project is planning to perform a wetland restoration project in the Mowry Brook area from Stevens Street through the Kings Grant Road area. The purpose is to eliminate potential and/or existing mosquito breeding sites that currently exist.
The proposed work includes the removal of organic debris from the ditch and culverts, and cutting of brush and dead trees which have or will in the future block the water flow. A low-pressure excavator may be used to redefine the ditch if necessary.
This work is standard ditch maintenance work that will help to reduce the mosquito nuisance, improve the function of the stream, as well as enhance the aesthetics of the stagnated streams and ditches.
