Daffodils and Jeans for Cancer Research
Next month, municipal employees will enjoy some perks all as part of a city-wide campaign to raise funds towards and awareness of ongoing efforts by the American Cancer Society.
The Mayor’s Task Force, which includes representatives from Marlborough Hospital, ACS, Marlborough City Council and city staff, is planning several activities in March. Continuing its annual efforts, the Board of Health will spearhead the “Daffodil Days” sales through which purchases of these spring flowers can be made for either personal use or as a “Gift of Hope” anonymous donation to area hospital cancer patients. “A Bear and a Bunch” plush toy/flower combo is also available. In addition, to raise awareness specifically for colon cancer, pins can be ordered with all proceeds applied toward “Gift of Hope” purchases.
Any purchase will entitle employees to wear jeans to work on Friday, March 2nd.
Members of the general public who may be interested in supporting in this fundraising effort can place an order with representatives of the Board of Health which is located at the Walker Building or with staff members of the Building Department located at City Hall. The deadline for purchases is March 1st.
A press conference is scheduled for 3PM on Tuesday, February 26th at Marlborough hospital.
